Paintings... Van Gogh

Paintings... some time ago, I did a project which required a combination of a known painting style and like minded subjects with a twist. The artist I choose was Vincent Van Gogh. The idea I had was to combine Van Gogh, his style, Leonardo Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and the artist Frida Kahlo with a movie poster. I decided to go with the movie poster of Boomerang. See the movie image for reference. In "no way do I own the movie" Boomerang or claim anything about it, other than it being a great movie. Enjoy.

Anime sketches...

Hello again everyone... here is a little something from one of my sketch books. The little old guy is Giuseppi Mayart, an interesting little character from the anime Wicked City. He starts off innocently enough, only to show he is much more than his protectors think he is.

Teachers...

Teachers... you never know how important teachers are until till you get older. I don't think you ever lose the feeling of needing a mentor. Anyway, different individuals mean different things to everyone. I created this portrait of one my mentors many years ago. This artwork was made primarily with markers. Anyway, I still like it and I think it still stands up very well. Enjoy.

Ninja Blade comic...

Ninja Blade... this is a character that I created back in late 1988 - early 1989. At the time, I was a huge comic book collector and novice martial arts buff. My early influences for this character came from: Batman (the comic book version), Gi joe's characters Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow (the comic book version), martial arts movies and of course anime.
Over the years, this character has evolved from a typical masked vigilante/ revenge character to a hero character. The reader will journey along to see the personal growth that Ninja Blade takes as he struggles along in finding his place in the world.
I will be showcasing Ninja Blade's early rise to his present day form. Stay tuned as I paste up his earlier progression and the new web comic. Good stuff coming soon.

Charcoal work...

It's now March... got to stay motivated. Here is a charcoal pencil work I did some time ago. I still think it's pretty good. My inspiration for this was a scene from a life drawing class and Brandon Lee's movie "Rapid Fire." I hope to have some new stuff very soon.
